Most of you may not remember, but quite a few years ago I had tried to launch a small #cleanreads / Faith based (both accepted), all ages indie publishing company – with the dream of it being top 10 – one day.
Small budget to launch (editors & cover designers would be paid a percent of money off the sales of each book they edited up to a cap – which was a lot more than the going per book editing rate, to make it up to them – it also kept everyone sharing and invested in assisting with marketing for book sales). I couldn’t offer advances, so I gave a 60/40 contract (which means I barely made anything after percents went to the Editor and cover artist). I also had intern marketing people, so they were free of charge, but could build their resumes.
I’ve paid for my domain each year and thought about it this morning when I got the email reminder that my .com would renew next month.
I considered letting it go.
I considered perhaps turning it into a magazine.
I considered maybe moving my blog, Grit & Grace, over to it.
I considered the “what if” on if I could make it a successful #publishing company, as was the intent all those years ago.
If you didn’t TLDR this and made it to here, I’d love to hear thoughts….
